Todays work consits of 4 special orders and 4 pipes that I ve addded to the web store. The first special order is a straight grain 4 panel horn which I ve been trying to make for a customer for weeks and finally got it. At least I got a lot of experience making horns and now feel comfortable with them!
Next on the list was a 1/4 bent Natural Bulldog for Dan Innaimo who saw the pipe in the Victor Miller article in P&T magazine a year or so ago.
The third special order is a Coral Rhodesian, one of my catalog shapes. This was "coralized" by ASP s Dave Nestor and I thought it might be of interest to see.
The fourth pipe was made from a picture of a Barling that was being sold on E Bay for Greg Jones.
The next pipe we received from Trinity East Smoke Shop for repair. I fell instantly in love with it.!
I had to try making it!
It came out to be Black & Tan 22 and is available in that section of the web store.
I called Trinity this morning and asked them the history of this pipe as it had their store stamp on it but also a Made In England stamp . They told me they bought this pipe and other bowls like it from Redmond, a now defunct distributing company in England, around 1985. They said they did very well with them and purchased the bowls for around $10 ! They had no idea where Redmond got the bowls but they had heard a rumor they were produced in Spain.
The next pipe came from a large cross cut block I found while looking for a large block to put the hex- swirl pipe on. It was a little too small for it but I couldn t pass up trying the real tight birdseye I saw all over the block. This one is UB 223 and is in the Unique Bent section of the web catalog
Next is another 4 panel horn that had a couple sandspots on them and I couldn t use fro the specail order natural horn pictured above. This us UB 222 and is in the Unique Bent section of the web catalog.
Last but not least is a sweet little Danish apple with a real horn ferrule. I made this to match a Danish billiard ( US 63) that I made a few weeks ago. Would make a nice set ! This us US 64 and is in the Unique Straight section of the web catalog.
That s all for tonight but I have two really interesting special orders for ASP members to display in the next Todays work section.
