Today s work consists of three pipes I made for my friend and fishing buddy, Bob Sholiton,bamboo rod maker extrordinaire....He prefers natural.unstained pipe, so the briar has to cooperate and be free from flaws in order to qualify. He says I ve ruined his pipe collection as the only pipes he now smokes are ones I ve made for him so I ve been working on beefing up his collection of American pipes. Here are 3 that turned out very well. Two are catalog shapes; the caldron and a hexagon calabash. The third is one I made for his birthday. He had expressed an interest in a hawksbill. Knowing that he prefers dublins I matched the HB shank with a dublin bowl. Here are the results:
