Today s work consists of a custom pipe for my son s tennis pro Moe.He s a cigar smoker and has recently been experimenting with pipes. I believe Glenn gave him his first one for Christmas. When picking Glenn up from his tennis lesson yesterday, Moe called me over and asked me if I would make something specail for an older friend of his who smokes ipes with balsa filters. Other than that I didn t get much direction but came up with this pipe. I drilled a 3/8" tenon hole and forced in a delrin tube with an inner dia. of 1/4 inch to hold the filter. I then put a 1/4" delrin tube inside that so the person can smoke with or without the filter. Of course he needed it by easter and was surprised to see me this morning when I dropped the pipe off at the club after taking Glenn to school. No charge for delivery! Being in a magnanimous mood I toosed in a bent Tinsky-Lite for him to smoke. Maybe he ll take me to the US Open sometime and we can meet his former pro buddies.....
The next pipe is one I made using Josh Rosenblatt's Shofar design. It was the proto-type for his eventual smooth version. Buzz Ruppelt had asked me if I was going to make anymore and to contact him if I did. After seeing the pix he agreed to take it.
Tomorrow , Glenn s latest pipe, a large full bent tanblast
