Today s work consists of one special order and two pipes I made after discovering interesting blocks. The SO was another mistake. It was originally CC 171 , a hawksbill cutty which was sold right after being put on TW. It wasn t removed from the web catalog and it sold again. Intending to make another coral I came across a beautiful cross grain -birdseye. The customer was happy with it .
The next two pipes came today when I came across interestig grain patterns in blocks while making pipe kits. I set these aside for work later. The first doesn t have classical good grain but rather a swirling disorganized grain pattern which I thought interesting. It came out very clean and has the Pristine finish. The shape comes from a case of unrequited pipe lust. I saw a Cavvichi on Tarek Mandalays site which was sadly sold before I could purchase it. This is on the web site as :
UB 248
The second pipe came from a long plateaux tall block with apparent straight grain. The block was naturally shaped for a dublin bowl but I wanted to do something different with the shank to make it more unusual. This is one is on the site in the red cabernet finish as:
UB 247
