Today s work consists of some special orders as well as a couple pipes for stock. Sadly, two of them I forgot to photo as I was rushing to catch UPS for delivery to Barclay Rex Pipe Shop in NYC and I forgot to snap pix of a nice birdsey blast fishing pipe and a large bent bulldog that P. Bonaquisti blasted for me.
The first special orders were from an idea from John Hamilton McGrath, to make an unlined bull dog similar to the 99 Christmas Pipe but wider and squatter. He wanted it in a smooth black and a Cabernet with an amber lucite stem. The black one was relatively easy to get tho difficult to finish. I started on the burgandy when I hit a small flaw. I knew it would come out but I d have to alter the shape. I decided to 6 panel the pipe and see if he liked it. I think it s a really good shape and would certainly repeat it:
Here s the orginal design:
Next up was a rhodesian. I made two, hoping to get one Cabernet with a good grain. I got lucky and got the Cabernet as well as a Pristine two star straight grain. The straight grain is listed in the web catalog as UB 237

Another special order was for a bull dog taken from one of my catalog shapes and doctored up in Photo shop to show the changes desired. First the doctored photo , then the pipe. The order calls for a silver band but as my wife is more adept at banding I m waiting till she has a "chance " to do it !
The last pipe was a shape that I was fooling around with one night. I had P Bonaquisti do a tanshell blast on it. Came out nicely. This one is available on the web catalog as SB 232
