Yesterday I came into the shop after Dave had arrived. I went over to his sanding table to see what interesting pipe repairs he might be working on, when one just jumped out at me! Lo and behold it was Dave s pipe, one I had made for him a couple years ago in the pre- hawkbill era. Dave has a vocal pronounced dislike of HB's and as taken as I was by the shape I was equally suprised by the fact that he had something resembling one. I grabbed his pipe and sketched it up, except making a mature version incorporating a HB shank.
Tho I don t name pipes very often, I ve decided to call this shape the Dave Nestor Hawkbill....... It s listed on the web catalog as LS 95, Cabernet finish, size 5.
The next pipe I made yesterday is a 1/4 bent size, walnut, 4 apple. It s a special order for a good customer.
