Today s work consists of one Christmas pipe. During the week I ve mad many Christmas pies to fill orders but this one is special. It s the first 5 star straight grain of the year. I ve taken a series of 10 pix of it but it doesn t do the pipe justice. pipe is a special order as it s slightly smaller than a regular Christmas pipe. at the customers request. I was shooting for a 3 or 4 star but I got very lucky. Also not a sandspot on the pipe, cleanest piece of briar I ve ever encountered. There s some slight understaining on the pipe but no buffing compound. The pipe was hand rubbed with very fine grits of sandpaper until finally just buffed with a flannel wheel and carnuba wax.
