Today s work consists of a variety of special orders from the simple to the sublime. The first pipe is a large straight Apple ( Size 6 Cabernet) for a customer of Brookline News ,in Mass.
The second pipe is one of my catalog shapes, The Full bent. ( Coral , Size 6 ,large)
The next pipe had "one of my new polishing ideas" that the customer didn t like. The order was for a copy of SB 264 a black blast size 4 poker, only in a size 5. While a lot of the other pipe makers on ASP were getting deviled by the Briar G-ds, they were favoring me as I got a straight grain poker while looking for this blast. I left the top and bottom dress black as seen in the pix. The customer liked the pipe and grain and went for it instead of the blast, tho had to make top and bottom the same finish as the rest of the pipe.(Bengal ,size 5)
Dov Elder asked me to do a couple Cutty s for him to look at. One he wanted with a half bend, which requires a whole new design to accomodate. Pipe has real nice grain and one minor flaw. I will have Curt blast it for him ,once the weather warms up and he can work in his unheated shop. Here s the unfinished design:
Last but certainly not least is my second copy of Trever Talbert's Bilbo pipe. A beautiful shape, but a pain in the neck to make! Shown without final stem as the customer hadn t decided on the color at the time of the photo:(Cabernet , size B, one star)
