Today s work consists of two pipes, both special orders. The first is a copy of an old fashion bull dog that Mr. Holmes ( on # pipes) sent me to copy. It had an amber bit on it which I don t have, so he went for an amber colored acyrlic instead. I ve been playing around with stains and found one that comes very close to the stem in color. I guess I ll have to call it amber. Pipe is a size 4, Amber which is on line with the cabernet finish grade wise.
Note the blurriness problem persists in some pix!
The Second pipe is a new full bent stuyle I came up for a customer who described his smoking needs to me. Slated to be a Coral I decided to see how a smooth panel of the new Amber stain would look in conjunction with the Coral for a new Black & Tan configureation. (Size 5 B&T)
A sad note today. Jack Hayes, father of John and Matt hayes died today very unexpectedly. Jack was one of those great men. Full of life, bursting with vitallity and intelligence . He served his country as an Commandant of the Coast Guard and was on the Joint Chief's of Staff. One of the most honorable men you could ever meet. In one of his expressions of praise he would say of someone, "He s a real boyscout. " Jack was an Eagle Scout, everyone who knew him will miss him. Smoke a bowl in his honor tonite . MT
