Today s work consists of four pipes, two large and two small . Both large pipes are spoken for. The first came about while hunting for some blocks for pipe kits, I saw a large R 2-3/4 block with an interesting birdseye pattern on the side. I cut a large 1/2 bent billiard out of it and immediately shaped it. I had originally planned to make it a hex panel but the grain looked so good and the pipe so clean I left it. Here s the pipe:
This is another new stain, it s a red and gold, probably worth using again.
After making such a large pipe I decided to
make a couple smaller ones. Also I wanted to do a panel.. I came up with
this Feather-weight X, Amber ,0ne star: Available as
US 74
I also finished up a poker which was a prelim for the one I did for Bob Sholiton yesterday . Coral,4- Available as:
CC 187
The next pipe is the third I ve done in a series of Trever Talbert's Bilbo shape pipe. I guess he shold start getting royalties..... This pipe is made for long time customer and ASP memeber, Dave Haig. Fortunately, Dave likes large pipes. I began this with a huge block. I could tell it was clean and the grain was good. The top is 2.5" in dia to give you an idea of the size. Rarely, rarely will you ever see a pipe this clean with grain such as this.
Bowl has not been enlarged yet.
