Todays work consists of a pipe for Bear Graves of ASP. We discussed some parameters and on the 5 th attempt I got what he was looking for. A Golden-Red Pristine, size 6 two star straight grain:
I finished up one of the "failures" while trying to make Bear 's pipe. This pipe is on the web catalog as :
BT 35
It s in the Black and Tan section as it has the smooth and coral finish. I did this one a little differently and left the Coral section natural and put a very light understain on the smooth. A real nice piece of briar.
The last pipe will eventually be a Black & Tan Christmas pipe as there s a small flaw on the other side above the rings. I thought I d include it as I ve been fooling with endcaps and as many of you are familiar with the Christmas pipe I thought it might be interesting to see how the end cap looked on a this shape. I plan to use this on future pipes.
