Todays work consists of some very special pipes. My friend and fellow pipe
maker, Paul Bonaquisti and I have been talking about doing some collaboration
pipes for years. We made our first pipe together for the Jim Cooke Benefit last Fall.
Later that same year, we posted pictures of our Christmas presents to each
other, and a short story about how we collaborate on a new shape together
after the Richmond show in October. We exchange these pipes during the
holdiays, and it has become our tradition to do this each year. A customer
saw our "Holiday Shape" and asked if we could make a set of them for him.
This took almost nine months to accomplish and unfortunately, I've lost track of him since.
So, we decided to offer them up for general sale and they are listed in a new
category in my web store, titled " Bonaquisti & Tinsky ". We hope to do 6-10
pipes a year, in different shapes, as time allows. Paul did a beautiful job
on the blasting of the first two pipes, they are deep, craggy and well
defined. The last pipe has a carved shank, and a smooth bowl with just gorgeous grain!
These pipes are a limited edition, and will not be made again. Each pipe
bears the stamps and stem logos of both makers, and they are available
individually or as a set.
