Glenn s work
Todays work consists of pipe s made over the last couple weeks by my son, Glenn. I think his pipe making is really improving. None of these pipes were made on a lathe, all were hand-shaped on a sanding disc. He tends to favor more delicate Danish designs and he s evolving his own style. He s also started smoking a pipe and likes Hamborger Beermeister, and a Cigar leaf blend, Josh Rosenblatt gave him, as well as Scottsih Ribbon which Ed Burak was kind enough to send him.
If a proud dad can brag about him a little.... He joined the Debating team this year and as a Jr. Varsity he took first place in a 7 state regional tournament, in Oregon, in Policy Debate. Moving up to varsity for the NFL( National Forensic League) state tournament. He placed 4th and is an alternate to go to the national tournament in Atlanta this summer. Not bad for his first year. Tho he s had years of preliminary experience with his parents.....He s on the tennis team practicing for the upcoming Spring season and snowboards in the Winter. He s hoping to get a leg up on college and take some courses at our local college next year while finishing up his requirements to graduate high school. Right now his interest is in philosophy.
The first pipe I own for now as he didn t
think it "good" enough to sell as the shank is a tiny bit off
and he s very picky !
GT 101

and slightly ovalled. It has mostly flame grain and birdseye and is finished
as a Natural
GT 102
A delicate bent billiard with a panneled
shank, size 4 , very light weight, nice grain and 1 sandpit on the right
side
GT 103
A large square shank dublin with a brown
blast. Approx. Size 6. Nice lines
BT 129
This is our first collaboration. It has both our names on it and is available in the Black & Tan section of the web catalog. The design is Glenn's. I did the initial drilling and top turning on the lathe. He did the shaping on the wheel, the coral carve annd most of the finishing. I did the stem bending and the stamping and final polishing. Certainly a fun way to spend a Saturday with your son.
The middle three pipes are available in my web store under Pipes/ Glenn Tinsky. The first I possibly could be persuaded to part with if you e mail me privately.; thanx for looking !
