Todays work consists of some incredible special order pipes as well as one for the web store . I dont know where to start as anyone of these pipes "deserves" to be featured.
I had a request from a VERY NICE woman for a Gold Star Christmas pipe for her husband. Gold Stars happen more by chance than anything else ; as most of the Christmas pipes are made I wasn t hopeful. The highest I ve had this year is a 4 star Mocha that s on the Christmas Pipe home page. I went thru about 150 pre-selected blocks and took out the best 10. I sanded the sides and bottoms of the best five and made three. The first came out a black and tan, the second had a flaw near the top which I cut down to make a nice smaller"ladys" Christmas Pipe. This was the third:
The next pipe has been months in the making. It is for Tony Coranado, King of the Princes" :). He concieved the idea for a bent Spiquot Prince and asked me if I could do such a thing. Well, I knew I could make the Prince.... He sent me some nice photos with examples of spiquots he favored and I sent these on to my silversmith who thought he could do something . The project was born.
First I had to make a radial straight grain tanblast Prince. Second it had to go to Curt for blasting. That was the easiest part to do. Thirdly we had to come up with a stem and silver fitting that would work with the pipe. This took the longest but came out well.
