Today s work consists of a couple catalog shape s for the web store as well as two shapes I considered for this years Christmas pipe, before settling on a third. While I really like both these shapes I felt they were a little too close to last years model. I had first thought of doing the hexagon calabash as this years Christmas pipe but tried to scale down as it s very large and is a real full bent , something I didn t feel acceptable to a large group of pipe smokers. Here is the result:
CC 424 Size 4x Naked Coral
Then I considered a medium size Calabash . It s about the same size as the old Charatan Cavalier:
CC 425 4x Gold Coral
I was excited about this shape as most calabashes are large and dont pass the Pipe cleaner test and this one did. But comparing this years model and last years thought they were too close. Hopefully in the next TW Ill have a finished model of the 2008 Christmas pipe to display. Both these pipes, as well as the next two are available in the web store.
UB 568 Size 4 Cabernet Dublin
UB 569 Size 6 Mocha 2 Star Rhodesian
This pipe was made for Jeff Allender a member of the BOB forum. What s unusual about it is that he required it be able to take a 9mm filter as well as two stems !.
This pipe was made earlier in the summer for Tim Davis of ASP. After a lot of consultation he decided this shape would be best for him:
This was a very interesting project. Terry wanted a pipe that was a little over 2" tall and 6.5" Long and had to weight under 1.75 oz. I didn t think it could be done as it s a pretty large pipe. After a couple attempts I fiound a formula that worked and this pipe was 1.6 oz.:
